Drop Spindle Question

I just got a surprise email from my mom. She purchased for me a drop spindle and it will be here by Friday. So now, I need your suggestions on what fiber, etc I should purchase to learn how to do this. I have a book, now a spindle, and soon to be something from YOUR suggestions. LOL.

Hmm, Corriedale is nice. Send me your snail mail, I have a little something I can send on to you.

I started with Merino. It practically spun itself. I loved it! But it still didn't turn out perfectly. It definitely takes practice. Don't get discouraged! That's the best advice I can give.

I started with Ashland Bay. It's not very expensive, it's soft, smooth, and comes in yummy colours.

Don't forget your library for books : )

I started with Falkland. Never did like spinning corriedale on a spindle :-) Blue Faced Leicester would probably be my #1 for easy to spin.

I think I have some Falkland & BFL tucked away somewhere if you'd like me to send you some samples.
