A New Pattern: Easy Airy Summer Baby Blanket

My cousin recently had her second child. A sweet little baby boy. Well I got busy and put together a baby blanket for him. I wanted it to be light, airy and soft. So here is the pattern that I came up with. It can also be changed in so many ways, so you can make it to fit your needs. Hope you enjoy.

Good Afternoon..
In reading the instructions for the beginning of your little baby blanket. It says to do the Seed stitch for 4 inches.

My understanding of the Seed stitch is- you begin Row 1 with Kl,Pl, and repeat across row.
Row 2 - you reverse the stitches and start with Pl,K1 across the row.

But that is not what I read-instead you say to Repeat Row 1?

Have I miss read it ??
Thanks a bunch for sharing.

Hi Again.. Well I think I have answered my question I just sent onto you regarding your Seed Stitch instructions.

I being a Canadian did not know that there is a difference between Seed Stitch and your American Moss Stitch.

Yes, the Seed Stitch is as follows: -Row 1 K1,P1 and knit across the row.
Row 2 you reverse the stitches, and start with P1,K1 across the row.

But your instructions are for your American Moss Stitch and is a little different.
Row 1 - K1,P1 across the row.
Row 2 - Do exactly the same.

If you have a Row 3 and 4 then you would change it to P1,K1 across the row. And Row 4 Do exactly same.

I watched a video done by Creative Knitting and there is a difference.

We learn something new each day and that's what keeps our Knitting so interesting.

Toodles.. Sandy

Hi Sandy,

Thank you so much for commenting and asking your question. I learned a little bit too, I did not realize that the stitch pattern was called something different in Canada. I am so glad to know that, because it will help me in writing other patterns.

If you are on Ravelry, the pattern is on there also and you can post pictures of your finished blanket. I would love to see it.

Thank you again for contacting me.
Have a great day,

Hi Sandy, just a quick question about your pattern. At the top you suggest using circular needles. I'm just a bit confused by this since it's not a circular pattern (from what I can tell). I'm pretty new back into knitting and have forgotten a lot of what I used to know, so could you please clarify as to why you are using circular needles for the blanket? Also how I would stitch on the "wrong side" on such needles - would it just be by flipping my work upside down and starting in the other direction?

Sorry for all the questions, and thanks for your help.

Hi Rachel,
The circular needles are because of the width. You don't want to knit with all your stitches crowed. Also the wrong side is the back, or other direction. Thanks so much for contacting me and I'd love to ee it when yiu are done. Saundra
