Time running out

This morning I realized what a nut I can be. Here we are leaving on Thursday morning, and I'm not one bit ready. LOL. So everything is getting put on hold today until some headway is made toward the trip. The bad news I still can't find that perfect birthday present for my mom, the good news is I have some spinning classes scheduled so I can learn to use my drop spindle without swearing too much. ;-). It's all about priorities. hahahaha

I did felt my bag. In fact I put it in the washer and totally forgot about it. It was like 2 hours later when I remembered what I had done. It's drying. What is funny is that amazingly it's still usable. It's not the size of a doll purse. But I won't have time to really finish it until I get back from TN.

ok, I'm off to shop some more, cross your fingers I find that perfect gift for the mother how has everything and is turning 70.

When Ever Bag

Are you ready for a couple of pre felted pictures? LOL. I am just about 2 rows from finishing and I thought I'd get some pre felted pictures. Right now I'm planning on purchasing handles for it.

I am hoping that the random changes in yarn will add a little something to the bag after it's felted. Of course there is the possibility that after the felting you won't be able to tell. LOL. That would be funny. But this is just a fun bag anyway.

Some private life news. I am only sharing this because I would appreciate your thoughts and prayers. My EX, is acting up again. Without going into all the long ugly details, he is stirring once again and it making life disruptive and up setting for me and especially the kids. We will be fine but it looks like we might have to go through some more ugly before we get there. Life is just like that sometimes.

Blessed Be

At last, a few pictures

As promised I am actually posting with some pictures. The first picture is of the Aran Cable Twist Sock (scroll down her blog and you won't miss it) that I am crazy about. Yes, I have mentioned that I am not fond of the yarn I picked to make this sock. BUT, I was impatient and couldn't wait to start it, and so I grabbed yarn out of my stash. Trust me I am all ready looking for the "perfect" yarn for my next pair. I have to say that I haven't had this much fun making a pair of socks in a long time. I kind of got into a sock rut and realized I needed to break out of it, and this pattern has done it. I think you will enjoy this pattern too. "Try it, you'll like it" LOL.

Now the next picture is what I have on needles now and what is to come. I was going nuts needing to play with wool, so I took my leftovers and started a tote bag to felt. What is different about it for me is that I am using up the yarn and where it runs out is where I start a new one. It maybe in a middle of a row or at the end, but it's a little bit of a change for me. I have to admit, I REALLY want to end all the rounds evenly. LOL. But, I'm doing pretty good.

The two balls of Debbie Bliss I just ordered from Elann for the Project Compassion. I wanted a really soft nice DK weight for the squares they are doing and This yarn fit the bill. Plus, check out Elann's prices. You will jump in and order bunches too!.

So there you go, pictures, links and updates, it doesn't get better than that. LOL. Blessed Be.

Inspired

Several times before I have written in the past about knitting for charities. Even recently it's been talked about. I, like many knitters feel pretty strong about giving, sharing, donating, whatever you want to call it. Actually knitters are always knitting for someone. (we are just made that way). Well, this week some thing pretty exciting happened to my morning knitting class. We gained 2 new students, one knitter and one crochet-er. Both learned their basics from a gathering related to a Prayer Shawl Ministry. They both are working on beautiful shawls. Before I started blogging I had made shawls and lap throws for a prayer ministry that has since dissolved. (the facility closed unfortunately) Anyway, I know all ready that my two new students will bring a wonderful energy to the class and inspire us to always stay mindful while we are knitting.

Tomorrow pictures of what been going on......

Not much news BUT...

Things are going ok here at the Knitting Satori home. I'm working on all the things that I was working on the last time I posted. LOL. But, this morning while having coffee I was reading Hockey Mom's blog and noticed a group putting together knitted and crochet items for causes. It's called Project Compassion. As I read the story of the two ladies that have been picked for the first project I thought it sounded familiar, so I checked with a cousin of mine who lives in PA. and found that the accident in this story happened close to her. So I'm going to add Project Compassion to my list of groups to knit for and encourage you to go there and join in also. Right now they only want 8" squares. So go for it.

Trust me, I'm knitting

I really have been knitting. There are no pictures, but I have been knitting, I promise. I've even been trying to work on my drop spindle. LOL. So even without pictures I thought I better get on here and say a few things.

Right now I have two pair of socks on needles. The Blue socks that I started in 2006 out of the Senso, cotton/wool thread are just about finished. I have a little part of the foot and toe to finish up. And of course my new favorites the Aran Twist. I'm not happy with my yarn choice for these socks, not that the yarn is bad, but that the self stripping on the yarn is bad for this pattern. But, 1, the yarn was out of my stash and 2. I couldn't wait, I had to start them. With that said I love this pattern and I can't wait to find the perfect sock yarn for my next pair.

I have been thinking about picking the Oregon Vest back up and getting it finished. Actually I need it. LOL. I am so looking forward to wearing it.

Also about to hit the needles is my next Fair Isle Felted Tote. I am picking out the yarn and have a Spring pattern for my Spring Fair Isle. It will be a lot of fun to make. It's another project that I am really looking forward to jumping into .

Things right now seem to be so out of wack in my house. I'm working hard and am feeling like the harder I work the more I'm drowning. Yuck. I'm working at putting a knitting demonstration together so I'm making samples and writing things out. It's coming a long ok but it could be better. I also plan on teaching a sock class, but can't find the right place to have it. Hobby Lobby has no open time for a sock class or any other class. So I called a few other places around here. Some of these places want to charge me the same as they would a wedding reception. Forget that sh**. I guess too there is a lot of transition going on in my house right now and that makes the Libra (me) all out of it. My scales are tipped. I think this evening will be cocktail time for me. Maybe if I join in with the tip I won't feel so out of it. LOL.

This isn't knitting, but it's so cool! spray paint art.wmv

Spray paint artist from Portorož, Slovenia doing sci-fi paintings in less then 10 min. You can find more about artist and his art on www.sprej.com

This is pretty awesome. Since I majored in art, and spent some time doing airbrush, this guy really impressed me since he is going outside the box with his medium.

Enjoy

What am I starting the year with?

I'm starting the year off small but with giving in mind. Hobby Lobby has their wool 30% off, this is both the Lion Brand Wool and Caron Felt It, so I got a couple of skeins to make some child size felted hats for the Dulaan Project. I've not worked with the Caron Felt It yarn before so this will be interesting. As you can guess the hat is on the right. LOL. Had to say just in case. The yarn cake has the second start of the Aran Twisted Socks. I started the socks the other day and I just didn't like the length, that I had done the K2, P2. So before I got too far into the sock, I decided to start it again. A froggin' we will go!

The one thing this week that has surprised me, is that out of the blue, several stitch combinations for socks have come to my mind. It's strange but maybe 2007 will be the year of the sock for me. LOL. Actually I was hoping that it would be the year of the drop spindle success, but I'm not ready to talk about that yet I still have over 3 hundred and fifty days to work on that. ;-)

Before I close for tonight, to all my GA knitter friends. I hope that the storms that went through GA today didn't do any damage to your homes. Were I am at just about 15-20 minutes south of the airport, got a lot of wind and super hard rains but damage was here and there.

So take care, and blessed be. Posted by Picasa

Ch, ch ch, changes

So here we are. It's 2007. WOW, seems like yesterday everyone was relieved that Y2K pooped out. LOL.

I hope that you had a great time bringing in the new year and that this morning you aren't too ill from it. LOL. We spent a lot of the evening in because of rain, but the minute it stopped we were out on our street with our neighbors setting off fireworks. It was a lot of fun. I guess there must have been about 25 of us from up and down the street here. It was a lot of fun.

This year will be a year of change. (I think of David Bowie's Changes every time I hear that word.) Some of it I all ready know will be happening and some I can just feel it coming. What I do know is that I will no longer have the Knitting Satori newsletter. I don't and won't have the time for it unfortunately. So that has been canceled. I also know that this year I will be facing a lot of personal and financial challenges. I'm not looking forward to those, but in the end I'll still be standing. That will be good for me.

Also, I found out that I cannot change over to the new Blogger because some of the KAL's that I joined are so big that they won't change them yet. (insert, jumping up and down with happiness). I am hoping that they will work out some of the bugs that the new blogger still has before I have to change. So, I can stay knittingsatori. LOL.

On the knitting front... well, I guess I need to finish some of the 2006 projects. ROTFL. Ok, I'll fit those in with the other things that I'm really excited about. LOL. Right now I'm working on the Red Scarf Project, I'm using Paton's Rumor, an alpaca blend that is mostly red and black on size 17 needles. I'll have pictures coming soon. I'm also going through all my stash, especially left over yarn to put together color combinations for hats for Dulaan. For some reason it's been really important, almost an obsession lately to knit and give. When I think about knitting for me or even someone close to me, I just don't get excited about it, but it's like I have to knit for these projects.

Oh I just remembered that I need to take off my list of 2006 finished projects and start a new list. That's cool.

Have a wonderful day,
Blessed be
