Quick Photo Update

The green sock. This sock was started I believe last November some time. Finally I'll stitch the toes tonight and start the other one.

This is the Yarn Bee yarn that I was talking about in the previous post. I love it. It's so soft.
I hope you all here in the US have a wonderful and safe 4th of July. Posted by Picasa

I'm Sorry

I must apologies for not having pictures to go along with this post. My camera is acting up or my computer is mad at the camera and not accepting the pictures, but no matter what the problem is, I just don't have photos at this time. Sorry.

It has been a crazy week, but to hit the high spots. I now have 2 pair of socks on circulars. The other day at Hobby Lobby I was looking at their new yarns and seen their Yarn Bee Sweet Delight Pomp in Crayon. This yarn was shouting to me " knit me into summer socks". So I am. Footies are on their way. ;-)

The Fluted Banister socks are coming a long and I am really loving this pattern. I know right now that I will make another pair of these to put in my "gift" box. Some friend or family member will be getting a great pair of socks at Christmas.

Tuesday morning I got a coupon from Barnes and Noble's. What perfect timing. I had a private knitting lesson to give guess where? Yup, Barnes and Noble's cafe, so when I was done off I went to find the new Danse MaCabre, by Laurell K. Hamilton. I got the book for around $13.00, that's a lot better than the $25.95 on the label. (Wendy, I'm almost done with it, can't wait to hear what you think of it. )

So I've been knitting, reading, working with Gunther, and drinking a lot of coffee.

The Fluted Banister Socks by Laura Gallagher

I've started the next pair. The other day I found a really nice pattern on the internet. Fluted Banister Socks. She has several different sizes and different gauges. You'll like it. I decided that with a couple little changes (rounder toes and rounder heel) I would use my Sockotta and jump right in. So here starts the next sock adventure.

Now I have one complaint. I have used Plymouth yarns SEVERAL times and never ran into this. On the second row after the cast on, I came to a tied knot in the yarn. YUCK. I've never had that happen before with them. So I cut the knot out and kept on going. Just a little irritated at their surprise for me. ;-) Posted by Picasa

Sole Mates

All Done! Last night I finished up the last K row and this morning grafted the toe. I love them. You most of the time I really life the fact that the yarn pattern doesn't match on my socks, but for some reason, with this yarn I really wanted it to. Now I'm really glad that I did, because it makes the yarn pattern stand out I think.

Ok, I'm on to my next pair. I have two balls of Sockotta sitting here with the needles right next to me. ;-)

Have a great weekend. Posted by Picasa

On to it's mate

Last night I finished my sock and actually started it's mate. I hope the second one goes as well as the first one. I'm going to look into knitting both at the same time again. I tried it once and I was a mess. LOL. Maybe now that I'm use to knitting socks on circulars I'll be a little more calm. ;-) I really miss knitting socks. I have a ton of sock yarn so now that I'm back on the sock path I can use up some of my stash.

One of my friends at coffee Saturday asked me why I was making socks in the summer, since I'm either barefoot or in my Birks, and I told her that 1. I will wear them in the Fall and Winter and 2. I just like knitting socks. Well that got me thinking about my knitting and what I make and when I make it. Are you a "seasonal" knitter or do you knit what you want when you want it, and if it falls into the right season, that's cool? I don't think in the 40+ years that I've been knitting that I ever purposely knitted according to the season. Go figure. LOL. Posted by Picasa

Sock Progress

About the only thing that I've felt like doing this week is working on my socks. This is still the first one, but it's progressing along. My energy level is that of a snail it seems like. But, when you are use to going 100 mph all the time 50 mph seems pretty slow. LOL.

I've got a couple things that need to be finished up, but for some reason, finishing (sewing seams) is so boring to me. Let me rephrase that, it's boring but once I start I'm ok, it's just getting started that the problem. ;-)

I hope everyone has (had) a wonderful weekend,

Getting back in to the sock mood

It's been a few months since I've really been excited about starting a pair of socks. But the other day, the bug bit me again. So out came some yarn from the stash and my size 1 Addi's and off we went. I still prefer doing socks on double points. That will always be my favorite, but doing them on circulars is a little easier on the joint pain in my hands. Double points always gave me a feeling of connection to the old ways. Now I do have a pair of green solid socks on the size 2 circulars that I keep in the car and work on when I'm "waiting." But, I'm just not in a rush to finish them. They'll get done when they get done. ;-) Posted by Picasa

The Mailman Was Here

I just heard the mailman out side and ran out there and look what he had for me! It's off to my favorite chair to do some reading. Perfect timing too, my latte is all ready there waiting for me. Posted by Picasa

I love how it turned out, I hope you do too!

All done. It felted, it dried, it got handles, it's all done. I love it. It looks a lot better in person. I took about a dozen pictures and this is the only one that showed up fairly good. My friend who is going to get this will be amazed. She isn't a knitter, or crafter, so she will really appreciate this. I can't wait to give it to her.

Now on to finish the seams of the backpack and felt it. I guess I'm a felting fool this weekend.

Everyone be safe and enjoy your weekend. Posted by Picasa

Felting as we (I) speak

Here it is, the companion bag from scraps. LOL. It's in the washer felting RIGHT NOW! The stringy things on the side are the handles. I think everyone will like it and it will make sense when you see it all done! I'm so excited. At first I was going to keep this for myself but while I was knitting a new Great Dane friend on mine kept coming to my mind so I think I will be giving it to her on the 14th if it turns out good. Cross your fingers. ;-) Posted by Picasa

Catching up on the knitting chit chat

Finally I have a few minutes to blog. Not to dump on my knitting sisters about my aches and pains, but lately, actually about 3 weeks now, I haven't been feeling well. Nothing specific or big enough to make me stop and go to bed, just something isn't right, I'm sleepy all the time, mild headaches, stuff like that. I guess that's why I haven't been blogging as much. So what do I do, I keep my busy schedule going full tilt AND add a few things to it. I think I need a vacation.

This weekend I did have a little time to rest and it felt wonderful. Now if I could sleep for about 3 days straight, I'd feel 100% back to my old self. LOL. But, in all my craziness I have been productive. I've started a Constant Companion Bag from my Knitter's Stash book. With all my leftover wool, I thought it would be great to take all of it and make a bag, so that's what my Companion bag is going to be. I also have one slipper done and about finished with the second, then I'm going to do some kind of edging around the opening. These I'm also making out of yarn for the stash. (well just pat me on the back LOL)

And then the big news I've finished the main body of the Felted Backpack and just have to sew it up, knit the straps and felt it.

So you are update, the blog is updated and all is good. I'm headed for bed. :-) Posted by Picasa
