Well I just finished the sock. (photo below) Now to start the other one. LOL. I have a great time working on socks. For some reason just having a project that you can sit down and knit a few rows on a small scale put it down, and the pick it back up when you need to feed that need to knit is so much fun. It's like taking a nibble of a chocolate cake.
One thing that was different about this sock than the others is that I usually use bamboo needles and here I used metal. At first it took a little getting use to because the yarn slides better on the metal, but what really took me a while to get use to is the sound of the needles. :-) But, I may invest in some larger metal double points for the other socks I make. They are more a combination of sock and slipper. Great to wear on rainy days. A friend of mine uses hers after she gets out of the shower and puts lotion on her feet then she puts on the heavier socks. She says her feet are the softest they have ever been and look the best.
So now that sock one is done, I think I will get busy on finishing up the comfort shawl. It's not far from getting finished. I will have to get some photos of the work in progress.
Knitting can be an "Awakening" experience (Satori). I hope that Knitting Satori can be a place where those awakenings can be shared and passed on to others.

Visit This Web Site!
Late last night I was surfing around the knitting web sites and found some patterns on Interweaave Magazines web site. Well after I read a little about the person who made the pattern I went to her web site. And thought is was great. A LOT of information. I have added the link to my list but here it is also.
I think you will really like what you find on her site.
Happy knitting!
Oh, I'm now about half way done with the Comfort Shawl I'm making my Stylist. I think she will love it.

HAPPY EASTER
I hope that if you celebrate Easter that you have a wonderful day with your family.
Yesterday I added a few photos of some quick knitted items. I forgot to mention about the yarns used. A few days ago I mentioned about the yarn I found at JoAnns these are items made with JoAnn's brand of yarn. The red yarn is called Castaway and the other scarf/boa is made out of their Breeze yarn. Both come in 1 3/4 oz skeins.
Tomorrow it's suppose to be another one of those wonderful days for knitting here in the Atlanta area. RAIN! So maybe I will finish up the sock I started with Lion Brand Magic Stripes I got on sale for 3.00. (have to do something while I wait for web pages to load) or I may get a more done on the Comfort Shawl I am making for the wonderful and patient lady who cuts my hair. I am taking photos of the shawl and will have them up pretty soon I hope.

Giving
One of the things that I have learned from knitting is that the creativity and development of the item is as much if not at times more fun that wearing it. I guess it goes back to it being about the "journey" and not the end.
Something I have found that brings an added excitement to my designs and choices of what I work on next, is who I am going to give it to. Yes, there are some times, that when I start a project I don't know who I will give it to or if I will keep it. But, for the most I have someone in mind when I start it. Anyway, the appreciation I have with the process of knitting, from finding the yarn till it gets wrapped and handed to the person covers a such wide variety of feelings and emotions. Such healing.
But of course the road is both ways. I receive in the process of making the item, the person gets touched, and blessed with a surprise gift from the heart. Then again it comes back to me, seeing their happiness. A memory and feeling that I can keep with me forever. There's nothing like it in the world.

Knitting Projects
It's finished! This past week I started a doggie sweater and finished it yesterday afternoon. This sweater was so much fun to make I can't wait to get started on another one. Of course the other projects I have going are all calling out to me, "Finish Me, Finish MMMMMEEEEEE!" So that got me thinking, how many projects do most knitters have going at one time?
Not too long ago one of the knitting online magazines I get gave the stats on it but in my hurrying I don't remember what it said. I do know that I am usually working 4-5 things at a time. The good part about it, is that I do eventually finish all of them.
BLOG NEWS:
Since this is new to me, I am still in the creating process. I hope to real soon add some of my favorite FREE pattern web site links, and some places where I order yarn from.
YARN NEWS:
This morning I was at JoAnn's and spotted the ladies putting up some new yarn. The colors and varieties were fantastic. So if you shop at JoAnn's or have one in your area check this list of yarn, which by the way, is their brand but made by some of the BIG name yarn companies.
1. Castaway: a hairy boucle with a soft and stylish twist. ( I got a ton of this, its beautiful)
2. Catalina: a stunning ribbon yarn that will add elegance to any project
3. Peacock: a trendy trio of texture, great for all fashions. (other woman were grabbing hand fulls of this yarn, you will too when you see it.)
Have a great day

Yarn Therapy
I realized today when I was making another yarn purchase that there is something very therapeutic about yarn. Going through row after row of yarn, feeling it, all the colors and textures are so hypnotic. It's so relaxing.
Another great pleasure from yarn shopping is how it inspires creativity. At those moments when your eyes see that skein you have to have suddenly your mind is filled with all the possibilities. At that time, nothing else matters, there is no stress, there are no hounding problems, the moment is full of the excitement of potential. That is a great medicine.

It was a great day
While shopping at my favorite yarn shop today a really cool thing happened. A young lady was looking at the beginner knitting books and was clearly confused. Finally she worked up the nerve and asked me "Is it hard to learn to knit?" I was thrilled that she asked. We spent about 15 minutes talking and looking at the yarns and I helped her pick out what she needed to get started. She asked some great questions so I knew she had been looking into it, and just finally decided to take the jump.
As we went through the the checkout I handed her my business card and told her she could call me anytime. I know she will.
Her excitement about learning to knit inspired me. I purchased more yarn that I intended to, and couldn't wait to get home. I fixed me a hot cup of coffee, settled into my favorite knitting chair and spent the afternoon knitting and listening to the music of the rain.
